Originally posted on the Vezgo blog on February 15, 2024.

It’s been a few months since our last product update that included New API Docs, Connect Flow UI Refresh, Transaction Classification Across CEXs, and New Uphold & Arbitrum Connectors. We’re excited to share the latest developments with you regarding our Crypto Aggregator API.

Over the past months, we’ve been hard at work enhancing the functionality and performance of our API to better serve your needs. You can find here the list of all integrations and API Docs. Here’s a summary of what we’ve been up to.

Trezor Connect Now Available

Trezor Connect provides a platform for integrating Trezor hardware wallets with third-party services. It allows developers to build applications that can interact with Trezor devices to sign transactions, manage keys, and perform other crypto-related functions securely. It simplifies the process of integrating hardware wallet functionality into applications, making it easier for users to manage their cryptocurrencies safely.

We have implemented an integration with Trezor Connect, similar to our existing integration with Ledger Live.

This integration allows your users to access read-only data from their Trezor hardware wallets through the Vezgo crypto API. By leveraging Trezor Connect, Vezgo provides a secure and convenient way for users to view their crypto holdings and transaction history without compromising the security of their private keys. It prevents users from searching for their public address in the settings.

This integration enhances the user experience for Trezor users who rely on Vezgo for their crypto tracking and management needs!

Binance API Connector – Major Updates

Update on the Binance API Connector Vezgo

We have made so many updates to our Binance connector that we had to write an entire product update about it!

We have introduced significant updates to the Binance API International connector, offering users six times more data and improved features. The updated connector now supports all major wallets on the Binance API, including Spot, Margin, Earn (Staking), Funding, Futures, NFTs, and Auto Investments.

This enhancement provides users with a more comprehensive view of their Binance account, allowing for more accurate tracking of transactions and balances. The crypto API now offers real-time updates for spot wallets and historical orders data to enable your users to stay informed about their accounts and make well-informed decisions in real-time.

We invite you to read the Binance product update to learn all about it: Binance API Connector: Get 6X the Data With Vezgo.

OKX Transaction Support for Spot & Staking

With support for a variety of trading pairs and advanced trading tools, OKX is popular among both beginner and experienced traders. It has been requested by several clients. We added support for Spot and Staking on OKX.

Visit the integration page to learn more about the current coverage. Note that we are always subject to limitations from the CEX APIs and in the case of OKX, only the last 3 months is available in the OKX API for Trades.

Bybit Spot Transactions Support

Founded in 2018, Bybit is a CEX that has quickly gained popularity among traders for its user-friendly interface and advanced trading features. The platform offers a variety of trading pairs, including perpetual contracts for popular cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and others.

We have recently added transaction support for Spot (Classic account), Unified and Contract. If Bybit is important to you and you would like us to expand our coverage, get in touch with the team.

Stellar Blockchain Connector

Stellar is a growing blockchain platform that aims to facilitate fast, low-cost, and secure cross-border transactions. Founded in 2014, Stellar focuses on providing a decentralized network for sending and receiving money globally. The Stellar blockchain uses its native cryptocurrency, Lumens (XLM), to facilitate transactions and maintain the network’s security and integrity.

We’re proud to announce that Stellar is now supported!

FAQ Page in the API Documentation

All your most common questions answered! We have added a new FAQ page to the API docs where we answer the most common questions we get. Let us know if we have missed anything. Customer support is always our top priority, and all paying customers benefit from a private Slack channel with our engineering team.

Direct API Documentation

Enterprise customers of Vezgo can significantly benefit from using the Direct API with complete customization instead of the Connect Flow widget. With the Direct API integration, clients have more control and flexibility over how they interact with the Vezgo crypto API, allowing for seamless integration of their own systems and workflows.

Vezgo has created comprehensive documentation for the Direct API integration, ensuring that clients can easily implement and customize the integration to meet their specific needs. Customers interested in leveraging the Direct API can get in touch with Vezgo to move to the enterprise plan and gain access to this powerful integration.

Coming Up Next

That’s it for this product update.

Originally posted on the Vezgo blog on 25 October 2023.

Ouf! It has been a busy few months! Lots of product updates that we are excited to share with you. From new API docs with openAPI specs, new connectors like Arbitrum and Uphold, and several enhancements, the team has been working tirelessly.

To our newest and most loyal customers who will be going through this product update, we thank you for your trust and look forward to what’s to come with bitcoin reaching a high in the last year at the time of writing these lines!

New API Docs With OpenAPI Specs

In everything we do, we try to make it easier for developers to integrate Vezgo. With that in mind, we have completely rewritten our API Docs, published them in Open API specs and made them available on a new platform. Look at this!

The Vezgo API Docs are available at https://vezgo.com/docs/

In the API Specifications section, you can download the OpenAPI specification (Swagger file). In the Introduction & Getting Started section, you’ll find all the information about setting up Vezgo, webhooks, live data and some examples.

Vezgo Postman Collection

Getting to know a new API in Postman is really a great experience. That is why we have made the API available in Postman.

Be sure to get your API keys from the Vezgo customer portal before you start testing.

A New Connect Flow Widget UI

The connect flow plays an integral role in the customer experience to connect an account and build trust in the platform they are interacting with. Our product designer worked through several mock-ups to refresh the look and feel of the connect flow while keeping it simple and intuitive.

And here it is!

You don’t have to do anything, the connect flow has been automatically updated in to all of our clients. We also have a dark version available! Please see the blog: Vezgo Connect: New Dark Theme and 1 Additional Connect Flow Option to learn about all connect flow customization options.

Transaction Classification Standardized Across Exchange Connectors

The lack of standardization of transaction types across different centralized exchanges presents significant challenges, particularly for tax and accounting software.

One major challenge is the inconsistent naming conventions used by exchanges for different transaction types. For example, one exchange might classify a transaction as a “trade,” while another may label it as a “swap” or “conversion.” This inconsistency makes it difficult for tax and accounting software to accurately interpret and categorize transactions.

A New Standardized Subtype for CEX Connectors

To address this pain point experienced by several customers, we introduced a new subfield called transaction_subtype.

Prior to the addition of this field, customers had access to the transaction_type field, which covered the main transaction types, and the origin_type in the Misc section that returns the original transaction type as seen in the blockchain/exchange.

These fields are of course still available!

Please refer directly to the API documentation for detailed coverage of transactions. As we encounter new types, we will add them to the model. As always, your help in finding and documenting missing types is extremely important.

Exchanges That Have Been Completed So Far

We have made the new subtype available so far on Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, Crypto.com, Gemini, and Kucoin.

Next, we will be working on Bybit, Uphold, Bitfinex, Bitmart, Bitrue, Bitstamp, Bitvavo and Coinspot.

Major Connectors Updates

We are working hard to add new connectors and enhance the coverage of our most popular connectors. You can view the full list of integrations here.

So what’s new?

Arbitrum: Now Supported!

With over 50% growth in developer headcount year-over-year, the Arbitrum chain is one of the fastest growing Ethereum Layer 2 solutions. Arbitrum’s virtual machine is known to provide an established ecosystem for dApps and complex smart contracts.

Because of the exponential growth, we decided to add it to our list of integrations. We now support positions, balances, and transactions on Arbitrum!

Uphold: Now Supported!

Uphold is a centralized exchange (CEX) platform for trading and transferring assets, including currencies, precious metals, and cryptocurrencies. Well known for being the only CEX supporting Ripple (XRP), the company is headquartered in New York.

We now support positions, balances, and transactions for Spot Wallets on Uphold.

Bybit: Transaction Support

Bybit is a CEX exchange that offers trading and is recognized for its derivatives trading with both perpetual contracts and futures contracts.

As a first step, we have added transaction support for Spot (Classic account), Unified, and Contract

The supported transaction types are Deposits (on & off chain), Withdrawals (on & off chain), Trades (Unified accounts only), Spot Repayment Sell/Buy (Unified accounts only), Transfer In/Out (Unified accounts only), and Currency Buy/Sell (Unified accounts only). With customer feedback, we will continue enriching the coverage on Bybit.

BitMart: Transaction Support

With BitMart, founded in 2017 and headquartered in the Cayman Islands, securing a role as one of the leading CEXs, we added transaction data to our support. We now support positions, balances, and transactions for Spot Wallets on BitMart.

Binance: Live & Historical Orders Data

For risk management software, knowing which orders are open is critical to accessing an accurate risk strategy. For Binance, we have made Orders data available on demand.

To learn more please visit the Real-time data section and the Order section of our API Docs. We aim to provide more information on orders in our next product update. Early testers are encouraged to contact us at hello@vezgo.com for access.

Binance: Auto-Invest Plans Now Supported

During the summer, Binance made available in its API Auto-Invest accounts. According to Binance, Auto-Invest Plans allow egularly invest in cryptocurrency with a pre-determined amount and accumulate crypto holdings.

Auto-invest accounts and transactions are now supported by Vezgo.

XRP Ledger: Now Fully Supported

With Ripple making headlines week after week in its SEC case. We already support positions and balances for XRPL wallets and have completed integration with transaction data.

Wallet Connect 2.0

Wallet Connect plays a pivotal role in Vezgo. With this integration, end users have access to over 250 wallets. We integrated the Wallet Connect 2.0 version.

WalletConnect is an open source protocol that enables secure communication between mobile wallets and desktop DApps. It allows users to connect their wallets to DApps by scanning a QR code or clicking a deep link, without having to manually enter private keys or seed phrases in the blockchain connector.

Also, please note that we have also made the name of the wallet connected via the Wallet Connect extension available. You can now know and view which wallet was connected!

Trezor & XUMM Manual Wallets

For our clients who use our wallet connectors to allow their clients to track where their assets are stored, we have added manual Trezor and XUMM wallet connectors.

In the future, we aim to build a full integration like for MetaMask and Ledger Live.

Cardano: Connector Rework

Co-founded by Charles Hoskinson, one of the original co-founders of Ethereum. Cardano is a well know blockchain that seeks to address the scalability, security, and sustainability issues faced by most chains.

Staking API capabilities now in Vezgo. Staking is now playing a major role in the crypto space. In our constant quest to offer you a superior and more comprehensive crypto API experience, we are excited to announce several new updates to our API.

From launching a Ledger Live connector to providing extensive staking API support for major exchanges, we have been tirelessly working on enhancing Vezgo to better serve your needs.

Here’s what’s new:

Ledger Live API Connector

Ledger Live is a comprehensive application that allows users to manage their Ledger hardware wallet and the cryptocurrencies it secures directly from their computer or smartphone.

Ledger Live enables users to safely send and receive cryptocurrencies, monitor their portfolio, and perform real-time balance checks across multiple crypto assets.

We have integrated Ledger Live into our suite of connectors. This allows you to seamlessly sync and track all the transactions and positions across various blockchains in Ledger wallets, ensuring an improved wallet management experience.

Enhanced Crypto Staking API Support

Recognizing the rising importance of staking in the evolving digital asset ecosystem, we have extended our Staking API capabilities to provide support for staking transactions, positions, and balances across key centralized exchanges (CEXes).

Staking — the practice of holding a minimum amount of a particular cryptocurrency in a network wallet to support blockchain network operations — has become an increasingly significant part of many investors’ cryptocurrency strategies.

This advancement in our API offering empowers you to seamlessly aggregate and manage your customers’ staked digital assets across several major exchanges.

Vezgo crypto staking API now returns staked positions, balances, and transactions on:

Binance

Binance US

Crypto.com

Kucoin

Coinbase

Kraken

Gate.io (Positions only)

See the crypto Staking API Documentation for more info.

New Transaction Hash Field

To provide better transaction tracking, we’ve added a new Transaction Hash (transaction_hash) field. It is currently available for Bitcoin, EVM-based chains, and Coinbase.

If Transaction Hash is important to you and you’d like to see it added to other connectors, please contact us!

A transaction hash, also known as a transaction ID, is a unique identifier that is generated whenever a cryptocurrency transaction is performed. It serves as a cryptographic string of characters that corresponds to a specific transaction within a blockchain network.

This hash is produced through a hash function, which transforms input data of any size into a fixed-size output, commonly in the form of a string of numbers and letters. The resulting hash is unique to the transaction’s details, including sender’s address, receiver’s address, amount transacted, and timestamp, among other pieces of data.

The transaction hash is recorded on the blockchain and can be used to track and verify the status of transactions, ensuring transparency and security in cryptocurrency dealings.

For instance, you can input the transaction hash into a blockchain explorer tool to view all the details related to that specific transaction. This feature was especially required by our compliance, tax, and accounting software clients.

Webhook Error Notifications

We’ve updated our API to include SyncError webhook functionality. This feature posts a SyncError webhook to your designated endpoint whenever an account fails to sync, ensuring you’re promptly notified of any sync issues.

Check out the updated API Documentation for the specific JSON body schema.

SDK Improvement: Deno Support & Open Source SDK

In our JavaScript SDK, we’ve added Deno support to enhance the developer experience.

Deno is a secure JavaScript and TypeScript runtime to address Node.js’s design shortcomings. With built-in security measures, Deno restricts file, network, and environment access unless explicitly permitted.

It natively supports TypeScript, integrates a test runner, and uses modern JavaScript features without the need for a build step. Deno operates with more web compatibility than Node.js and eliminates the need for an external package manager, as modules are imported via URLs and can be cached or locked.

Our SDK is open-source. We encourage and welcome everyone to contribute to our SDK and help us make Vezgo even better.

New Bitcoin Cash API Connector

We’ve expanded our list of connectors to include Bitcoin Cash, enabling you to sync and track all your BCH transactions seamlessly.

Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is a cryptocurrency that was created in August 2017 as a fork from Bitcoin.

The fork was a result of a long-standing disagreement among the Bitcoin community on how to handle scaling issues. Bitcoin Cash was developed with the intention of addressing these issues by increasing the block size from 1 MB to 8 MB, allowing for more transactions to be processed in each block.

This enhancement aimed to make transactions faster and fees lower, improving the utility of the digital currency for everyday transactions and small purchases, much like cash – hence the name, Bitcoin Cash.

Bitrue Connector: Transaction Support

We have extended our features to include transaction support on the Bitrue exchange.

See the full list of our connectors.

Blockchain Name in Wallet Object

To know which blockchain is connected to a wallet, our customers asked us to provide the name of the blockchain. It has just been released! We added the blockchain name to the wallet object for Exodus Wallet, Meta Mask, Trust Wallet, Atomic Wallet, and Ledger.

In the API Documentation, see the field Wallet and the Attribute Name.

For the latest product updates, visit our blog at https://vezgo.com/blog/

Over the past few months, we have been working to improve our core connectors, documentation, and provider list. Our goal hasn’t changed, we want to offer a single crypto API to connect all Web3.

Many of our customers haven’t yet customized the connect flow with their logo. Below you’ll find instructions on how to add your logo.

This product update aims to keep you up to date and ensure you haven’t missed anything in the Updates You Might Have Missed section.

You can always get the most up-to-date list of providers directly from the /providers endpoint: https://api.vezgo.com/v1/providers.

Binance Real-Time Events Documentation

Paying customers on the Launch & Scale or Enterprise plan can now have access to real-time updates on Binance! This feature was requested by our enterprise clients that needed more than the daily sync and four manual sync per day.

It is currently only available on Binance and could be implement on other CEXes based on customer requests.

If there’s any event to update, Vezgo API updates it in real-time. This feature needs to be enabled by the team, so please get in touch with us if you’d like to test it.

This is possible through a websocket built into the Binance connector that permanently listens for any event on all connected Binance accounts. When a new transaction happens on a client’s account, you’ll receive a webhook event with new transaction data.

The API Documentation has been updated, you can get more information here: Binance Event Streaming Documentation.

Core Connectors Rework

KuCoin

We revamped our KuCoin connector to fully support spot accounts.

The list of supported transaction types now includes:

Deposits, Withdrawals & Trades across all time for all time in every sync!

Up to 1 year of Convert, Transfers between accounts, Staking Profits, EARN (Profits), EARN (Subscription), Convert to KCS, KCS Pay Fees, and Refunded Fees.

The list will become even more robust, as we’re working to bring more supported transaction types to the connector.

We’re also working on bringing Futures support.

Crypto.com Exchange

The Exchange connector has been completely redesigned to maximize support, stability, and retrieve full transaction history. You can now pull up to 1 year of transaction history per sync with the first sync starting in June 2016.

MetaMask Multi-Chain Detection

The MetaMask connector can now detect multi chains. The goal is to ensure that when users connect their Metamask wallet, we can now detect all their active networks, not just limited to Ethereum.

Other Important Connector Updates

Some other important updates we’re proud to announce include:

Bitfinex transaction support

In addition to the balances and positions data, you can now access Bitfinex transaction data through the Vezgo API.

New Indian CEX Connector: CoinDCX

If you have clients using the Indian CEX, CoinDCX, you can now track their positions, balances, and spot trades history on the exchange. And for every sync, you get as much as 5000 transaction data into the past. Tracking of deposits and withdrawals is not available in their API.

New Australian CEX Connector: CoinSpot

You can now track positions, balances, and transactions on the Australian exchange CoinSpot! On spot accounts, we support transaction types: orders, transfers, deposits, and withdrawals. You can get up to 500 transactions of one type per sync.

Spot trade support for WazirX

We added trade transaction support on WazirX. Spot account transactions and withdrawals are now supported. Tracking of deposits is not available in their API.

The Polkadot connector is live

With this new connector support, you can now track accounts, positions, and transactions on the Polkadot blockchain.

Transaction support for Bitrue

You can now access your clients’ transaction data on the Bitrue exchange. We support up to 1000 deposits & 1000 withdrawals per coin and 1000 trades per symbol.

Metadata on Binance, Coinbase, and Coinbase pro

Binance, Coinbase, and Coinbase Pro transactions now come with additional metadata: external address and email. We are investigating if we should add metadata on other connectors. If you have an use case, please reach out to the team.

Providing More Coverage Details on the Provider List

We understand that being clear about what we support on each connector is very important. In the recent weeks, we’ve been working on it.

Going forward, as we improve individual connectors, we will update the list at the same time.

See the List of providers for more info.

Customize Your Connect Flow With Your Logo

We noticed that many of our customers didn’t include their logo in the Connect flow. Instead of seeing the first letter of your company name, customers will see your logo.

To add it, go to your portal account and click the down arrow next to your application name to upload your logo.

Feature Requests

Are there any integrations or features you’d like to see in Vezgo? Customers on the Enterprise plan can request 2 new features per quarter.

It may be useful to request support for Positions & Balances on a new connector, a specific type of transaction on an existing exchange, or real-time events.

Please reach out to the team if you’d like to know more!

Updates You Might Have Missed

In the past months, many important features have been released. If you missed them, please have a look at these product updates:
